Betrayed by Your Kiss

Betrayed by Your Kiss by Laura Landon

It should have been the happiest night of her life…
Lady Olivia Sheridan knows one thing: she has loved Lord Damien forever. But when her beloved is accused of fathering another woman’s child, Olivia’s world is shattered in ways she never thought possible. Especially when Damien’s accuser sets a huge price on his head, and Olivia discovers Damien’s death will be the only outcome…unless she does the one thing he will never forgive her for doing.
When Olivia’s plan to save him goes disastrously, dangerously awry, Damien doesn’t think he’ll ever see the light of day again and, with bitterness, he realizes that the woman he loves is capable of the ultimate betrayal.
Now, four years later, Damien has returned. His eye is on one thing: seeking revenge for what Olivia did to him. Only his heart may get in the way…
Because hell hath no fury…like a man betrayed.

Ok, I love a good historical romance. Of course they all have misunderstandings and things to work out. But, this book was all forced. It didn't feel like the story flowed well at all.
I felt bad for Rolland. Olivia drags him into her drama, pretends to care. He's the one who ends up hurt by all of this.
I don't mind painful romances. The problem with this was if you do something to save the life of one you love, then say something! Tell them what you did! There was no reason at all for Damien to be so angry at Olivia. This bordered on emotional abuse. He was rude towards her, manhandling her and not in a sexy way.
I'm slightly surprised. I typically enjoy this authors book, but this one just flopped and fell flat for me. I couldn't connect with the characters. I disliked the story line. I kept rolling my eyes. If you're portraying Olivia as this amazingly smart woman who can handle 2 estates and a business, yet can't figure out someone is out to sabotage her, or find a way to make Damien love her, I just, couldn't believe it. I felt no romantic connection in this story at all. I couldn't enjoy it.
