Shameless: A Bitter Creek Novel by Joan Johnston

Shameless: A Bitter Creek Novel by [Johnston, Joan]

HER SHAMEFUL PAST MAKES HER AN OUTCAST—
UNTIL A LONE WOLF TAKES HER INTO HIS HOME.

Scorned, pregnant, and facing a life without promise, Pippa Grayhawk is stunned when her father announces that they’re leaving their home in Australia to take over his estranged father’s sprawling Wyoming ranch. Drawn into bitter family rivalries and feeling like an interloper in her new home, Pippa rides out into the wilderness and meets an intriguing stranger and his pet wolf. The wolf doesn’t scare her, but she’s very much afraid to trust another man with her heart.

Devon Flynn knows all about going it alone. He lives in an isolated cabin, away from his domineering father and the scandal surrounding his family. Devon’s attraction to Pippa is intoxicating and undeniable, but when he tries to get close, she’s as wary as his once-wild wolf. Devon is willing to defy his father, and hers, to claim Pippa as his own, but winning this wounded, wonderful woman’s love might be the greatest battle of all.

This review is from: Shameless: A Bitter Creek Novel (Kindle Edition)
I've read some of this series and loved it! My problem with this one, is Pippa is a teenager! She's so young, I honestly spent more time wondering how I'd react if it my daughter, than actually enjoying the romance. Though it's nice to have a revisit to characters I've loved in past books, this one was certainly a flop for me. If you want a good Bitter Creek novel, then I certainly suggest you pick up Sinful or The Cowboy. I'm not usually so worried about the age of the characters I read, but the fact that it kept getting drilled into your head by the author, just makes it hard to forget! At that age, she has no clue what her feelings mean, let alone how to maturely act on them. I think that it just didn't fit. You start out with a naive girl who gets knocked up, but then she's extremely mature all of a sudden? I hate to give a low rating to an author I like, but this book just did nothing for me. I'm going to go back and read earlier books instead.
