Garrett: A Cold Fury Hockey Novel (Carolina Cold Fury Hockey Book 2)

Garrett: A Cold Fury Hockey Novel (Carolina Cold Fury Hockey Book 2) by Sawyer Bennett

This title will be auto-delivered to your Kindle on February 17, 2015.

New York Times bestselling author Sawyer Bennett hits the ice with the story of a playboy athlete whose winning ways lead him to a beautiful woman with a lot to lose.

Carolina Cold Fury star Garrett Samuelson never wants to miss out on a single minute of fun. Whether he’s playing hockey, hanging out with friends, or walking the red carpet with a new date on his arm, he lives every day to the fullest. When he meets Olivia Case, he sees someone who’s exactly his type—confident, sexy, smart . . . his next fling. But the more he pursues her, the more Garrett shares a side of himself that other women don’t normally get to see.

Olivia has been keeping a secret. While Garrett lives for the next thrill, Olivia’s not sure she’ll live to see the next day. She’s undergoing treatment for some serious medical issues, and she doesn’t have time for a relationship with no guarantees—especially one with a hot-as-sin womanizer who won’t take no for an answer. But as she gets to know the real Garrett, Olivia can’t help falling for him . . . hard. To reveal the truth would mean risking everything—but you can’t score without taking the tough shots.

Ok, looking at the cover, I would have never been able to tell this was a Hockey Novel. At All. There's just a hot guy. I love sports romances. But I want to be able to tell that's what it is. Sure, it's a hockey rink in the background, but it's so dark, you have to get right up close to even tell. -1 star for that.

Now, getting to the book. This is a super emotional roller coaster. Garrett is one of those reformed bad boy players. He meets a woman and all of a sudder is over playing. That's a story line that has been done a lot. I'm sort of over it. This book is teeming with emotions. I literally cried. It's actually a good book, but I can't find myself giving it more than 3 stars when I have to force myself to get past the "been done so many times I'm sick of it" player character. I would have liked to see just a normal athlete, because not all of them are womanizing players. -1 Star

Olivia is an amazing strong woman. Sure, she has some insecurities but who doesn't. She overcomes a lot to be with Garrett and though she tries to do what's best for him at her own expense... maybe she shouldn't. Add in her quirky gay friend Stevie and I was in love. Those 2 certainly redeemed this book from 3 stardom where I was hovering and thinking about putting it.
