The Fae Lord's Mate: A BBW Alpha Male Romance (Fae Erotica Romance Shorts Book 2)

The Fae Lord's Mate: A BBW Alpha Male Romance (Fae Erotica Romance Shorts Book 2) by Emma Alisyn

Lord Eero demands Liana have his child, fulfilling her contract.

But she resists. Having told her to give up her career and education to join him in the Fae enclave, Liana pushes back, demanding her rights as a free citizen.

“You have the rights I give you or the rights you are strong enough to take. There is only one avenue to power for you, Liana, and you refuse to take it.”

Now Liana has learned of a threat to her safety from a group of Fae opposed to the Human-Fae treaty. Though her bodyguard, Assar, who is rapidly becoming her friend, assures her that she is well protected, Liana is uneasy from this glimpse into the darker side of her new life. When she meets Lord Jarel, the ancient Fae Lord’s power freezes her with one glance.

“Your human was wondering the streets alone, Lord Eero. Have a care. I will not always be there to divert the attentions of my more enthusiastic supporters.”

In an impulsive decision, she flees her cage, believing that if she can just run fast enough and far away, remain anonymous, then she can take her life back.

Only, when she tries to escape, Lord Eero gives chase...and teaches her that he will never let her go.

Steamy 11K+ short erotica fantasy romance story, 2nd in the series. Can be read as a standalone but is better after reading Taken by the Fae Lord.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not really a standaloneFebruary 19, 2015
This review is from: The Fae Lord's Mate: A BBW Alpha Male Romance (Fae Erotica Romance Shorts Book 2) (Kindle Edition)
**Reviewed for EBooks Galore**

The description says this book can be read as a standalone, but I disagree. This short follows Liana, who is currently the concubine of the Fae Lord Eero, bound in contract to provide him with a child. They definitely have sexual chemistry; that is exhibited multiple times, and the author does a nice job showing that Liana can be seduced even though she doesn't much like Eero, her role, or the restrictions placed on her.

But since I haven't read book one, I don't really know Liana or why she agreed to this plan. And so, I don't like her. I get that I'm not supposed to like Eero. He's a fae jerk (as so many fae are in the books I read). But it's hard to enjoy a story where the heroine is whiny and ignorant. I say ignorant because she is - she has no idea what the terms of her own contract are. Thankfully, her bodyguard Assar knows more than she does and can help out. He was the best part of the story by far. Liana just walked around being grumpy and entitled without actually doing what she needed to adequately care for herself. It was frustrating, and it was why this short only got 2 stars.

The premise is intriguing, and I can't say I wouldn't read the story as a complete, standalone novel, but these short pieces are not for me, I think.
