***This is an in between novella in the Knotted Roots Series. Book Two will be out later this year***
The southern summer was back with a vengeance.
Helping out a friend was what Katy had in mind when she agreed to give Roxie a hand on the farm.
She expected it to be an easy job wrapped in the possibility of a break from her mother’s constant vodka stupor.
What she didn’t expect was to find him.
Brian spent his life in his brother’s shadow, constantly falling short of others’ expectations.
When he gets the chance to prove himself, he's forced to decide if there’s more to him than just the mistakes he’s made.
The summer was supposed to be easy.
It was supposed to be fun.
But sometimes, when you least expect it...you fall.

My rating: 3 of 5 stars
First: Where the heck is the rest of the story? Nothing is finished. It's as if part of the book is missing! I mean, I'm up for cliff hangers, but this wasn't even a cliff hanger. It just stopped. Poorly done ending. Even being an "inbetween novella" as it's called, you still need to have an ending that makes sense, not something that pisses off your readers.
Second: Until the ending, it was a pretty good story. I like seeing Katy and Bri coming together and him starting to open up. Finding out about Katy's home life was intersting. But, again, the damn ending... her father might as well have been left out of the book completely. He was a useless character.
So, if the book ended better it would have gotten more stars, because I enjoyed it. But as it stands... don't waste your money. It's not worth it.
